Charles Dunlap creates sophisticated living spaces that blend function and personality, resulting in sometimes unexpected—yet always exciting—interior design. His services are tailored for today’s busy professionals, utilizing technology to remove the stress and time demands from the design process.
Extensive travel and exposure to many cultures, styles, and materials informs his work, bringing a fresh perspective to the spaces he designs. Often influenced by nature, Charles creates intuitive and organic environments, blending function and personality to provide his clients with stunning signature interiors.
Throughout a design career that spans over a decade, Charles began as a fashion buyer and merchandiser, and then worked in a large commercial design firm. These experiences in closely-related style industries paved the way for his true passion: residential interior design, and working closely with residential clients to create attractive and functional living spaces.
Since founding Dunlap Design Group in 2000, Charles has received multiple awards for his work, including the 2008 Brian Killian Rising Star from
Detroit Home Magazine.
Charles has been featured in publications—including Detroit Home Magazine, Beautiful Interiors, Home & Design, and Traditional Home—and has served as a consultant for the popular ABC show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” He holds a BFA from Wayne State University, and is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

How do you charge?
We custom tailor our pricing plan to each project. In addition to cost of your finishes and furniture, and depending on the scope of the project we may charge:
Hourly- For smaller projects, and consultations, it makes most sense to charge an hourly rate.
Value-Based Fee- For larger projects, we realize the anxiety an open-ended hourly rate can cause, so based upon our years of experience, we’ll calculate a value-based flat fee for our time to design and implement your project.
